День святого Патріка

Сьогодні, 17 березня, День святого Патрика. 

Це свято – ірландське, втім, самі ірландці одягнули у зелене весь світ.
Святий Патрик – покровитель Ірландії, зробив чимало, щоб у країні поширилося християнство.

 Зелений – символ свята. Колір здобув особливий статус завдяки ще одному атрибуту цього дня – трилиснику. З його допомогою святий пояснював людям триєдиність Бога.
Сьогодні не лише вшановують святого, а й висловлюють любов до Ірландії. Причому це роблять по всьому світу. 

У Нью-Йорку на честь свята проходить найбільший парад. У Чикаго місцеву річку зафарбовують натуральними барвниками, а політики вдягають краватки зеленого відтінку.
Ірландська гвардія – підрозділ британської армії – отримує гілочки трилисника із рук королівської особи. Цього року їх вручатиме принц Вільям.

 Найбільш охочі святкувати цього дня навіть перевдягаються у лепреконів – персонажів із ірландських міфів. Руда борода і білі шкарпетки – головні аксесуари. А для повноти образу можна станцювати в центрі міста кейлі чи будь-який інший народний танець ірландців.
